Seventeen-year-old Anton Deibe, a passenger on the Japan Airlines flight that caught fire after colliding with a Japanese coast guard aircraft at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, shared his harrowing experience of the incident. Anton, who was traveling with his parents and sister, recounted the chaotic moments inside the cabin as the plane caught fire.

In an interview with the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Anton Deibe described the rapidly escalating situation inside the plane. “The entire cabin was filled with smoke within a few minutes. We threw ourselves down on the floor. Then the emergency doors were opened, and we threw ourselves at them,” he said.

He further detailed the intensity of the smoke, saying, “The smoke in the cabin stung like hell. It was a hell. We have no idea where we are going, so we just run out into the field. It was chaos.”
