The eagerly awaited second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is poised to commence on February 23 in Bengaluru. The inaugural match will witness a clash between last year’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium, with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has outlined a comprehensive schedule for the tournament, featuring five teams and a total of 22 matches. Unlike the initial plan for a home-and-away model, logistical challenges have led to the decision to host all games at two centers—Bengaluru and Delhi.
The Bengaluru leg will extend until March 4, following which the WPL caravan will move to Delhi. Notably, there are no doubleheaders scheduled for the 24-day competition, with all matches starting at 7:30 pm, except for occasional instances where teams play back-to-back games on consecutive days.
The Delhi leg will commence with a match between the finalists of the previous season, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The final showdown is scheduled for March 17, preceded by an Eliminator on March 15, both to be held in Delhi.
